Hello SIA Families,
The following is a terrific way to be involved! SIA is looking for people who would be willing to participate with the Scappoose Parent Association. Please contact D. Meeuwsen at SIA for more info.

Dear Parents,

The Scappoose Parents Association needs your help. Scappoose School District is fortunate to have an organization whose focus is on the support of our students, teachers, and schools. Since its inception, the SPA has provided over $100,000 to the district for various purposes including athletics, technology, foreign language, and elementary programs. Volunteers have spent countless hours raising these funds, and now it’s your turn.

The SPA began in 2003 through a local grassroots effort led by parents, educators, and volunteers who were committed to assisting students within the Scappoose, Warren and Sauvie Island communities. Their mission is to provide supplemental funding for the students of Scappoose School District. Grants are focused on the best interest of students, staff and community members and are the direct result of requests from educators. Most gifts range between $3000-$7000, in an effort to spread the donations throughout the district.

Now the SPA is facing a significant decline in volunteers and will not be able to operate unless more parents step up to volunteer. They meet once a month during the school year and have two major events that they host. In the fall, they host the Holiday Bazaar held at the high school, and they also put on the summer car show. Right now they are in need of people to help plan these events.

Meetings will be held at the Scappoose Public Library at 6:30 on 9/13, 10/11, 11/8, & 12/13. Please consider coming to the September meeting to find out how you can help. If you have any questions, please contact Kim Boswell kimboz064@gmail.com.
